We are keeping students in school and connected.

School closures due to the coronavirus pandemic are affecting 1.6 billion youth around the globe. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization estimates that 24 million children will never return to school as a result of the current crisis.

ASF is committed to minimizing this disruption to education and ensuring our students maintain social contact during this critical time. The inequality of access to internet and computers, known as the digital divide, is the biggest hurdle we face to achieve this goal.

In May 2020, only 29% of our students had access to a laptop on which to attend school and stay connected. As of today, we have equipped 73% of our students with a laptop. Thanks to generous support from benefactors like you, we have nearly reached our goal of getting a laptop in the hands of each ASF student.

But our work doesn’t end with laptops, we need your help to make digital learning sustainable for our students.

Digital devices allow our students to connect with peers, attend school and access information.
